Introduction of Endless Swim Spa

An endless swim spa is an at home swim spa designed for year-round lap swimming, aquatic exercise, physical therapy, and fun. An endless swim spa allows you to fully realize the potential benefits for at-home aquatic exercise and enjoyment in the privacy and convenience of your home. There are multiple ways to use an endless swim spa. An endless swim spa can be used for relaxation and soaking, similar to a traditional spa or hot tub, or it can be used for exercise. Each endless swim spa has an endless swim spa Swim Machine which creates the best swim current on the market today.

Benefits of Endless Swim Spa

A Full Swim Experience without a Full-Size Pool
If you love to swim, but don't have the space or desire for a full-size pool, then an endless swim spa is an excellent option. Their small size (ranging from 15 to 20 feet long for the Fitness System models) allows them to be placed almost anywhere—including indoors.

Excellent Water Exercise for All Abilities
Endless swim spas are great for aquatic exercise. Whether you swim against the current or do other water exercises, these pools are an excellent way to ease joint stiffness, relax sore muscles and build strength. Just like a full-size swimming pool, exercising in an Endless Pool can help improve your endurance and coordination.

Environmentally Friendly
Because they're a fraction of the size of traditional swimming pools, endless swim spas use far less water and fewer chemicals to keep them clean.

Simpler Maintenance
Endless swim spas are easy to maintain and require fewer steps to keep them clean. Most models will only require a few minutes each week to test the water and add some regular household bleach. That means less time cleaning and more time enjoying your pool!

Great Fun for the Whole Family
Despite their compact size, endless swim spas offer room for several members of your family. It's a great way to encourage exercise, relaxation and family communication.

Effective Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic therapy is ideal for a variety of medical conditions. The low-impact, low-stress environment of an endless swim spa is perfect for physical therapy exercises that increase flexibility, strengthen muscles, improve balance and reduce pain. Many models can also be equipped with additional, optional accessories, like an underwater treadmill for low-impact walking and running.

Types of Endless Swim Spa

Single-Shell Endless Pool Swim Spas
Single-shell swim spas are self-contained units that combine the swimming area and spa in one structure. They are easy to install and offer a seamless design, making them a popular choice for those seeking a simple and efficient swim spa solution.

Dual-Shell Endless Pool Swim Spas
Dual-shell swim spas separate the swimming area from the spa, providing more versatility in design and functionality. With this design, you can have distinct temperature settings for the swim area and the spa, allowing you to enjoy different water experiences simultaneously.

Inground Endless Pool Swim Spas

Inground swim spas are installed flush with the ground, creating a sleek and integrated look with your outdoor landscape. They offer a level of sophistication and elegance while providing the same benefits and features as above-ground swim spas.

Above-Ground Endless Pool Swim Spas

Above-ground swim spas are installed on the surface, making them easy to set up and relocate if needed. They are a cost-effective option and offer the convenience of portability without compromising on the features and benefits of a swim spa.

Hybrid Endless Pool Swim Spas

Hybrid swim spas combine the best of both worlds—the features of a traditional pool and the technology of an Endless Pool. They provide a large swimming area and a powerful current system, perfect for serious swimmers and fitness enthusiasts.

Application of Endless Swim Spa

Swimming
Unlike a standard backyard pool, you won't need to worry about hitting a wall every 20-feet. An endless swim spa is designed to be just that—endless! Using a consistent current, you can swim at your own pace, getting an efficient workout. You won't have to flip or turn, giving the newest or most advanced swimmers the ability to strengthen their stroke technique and enhance their exercise session with continuous movement.

Open Water Swimming
An endless swim spa is an ideal option for intermediate and advanced swimmers who want to train for an open-water swim. Whether you're interested in racing or checking a channel swim off of your bucket list, an Endless Pool will fully simulate the open water experience. You can adjust the current and lower the temperature to prepare you for the natural experience, with the convenience of practicing at home. This is the best option for triathlon training. Not only will you experience the current and water temperature of open water, but also you'll be able to train frequently and at any time you'd like without having to worry about safety concerns or leaving your home.

Outdoor Swimming Spa

Water-Based Therapy
No matter your age or fitness level, aquatic therapy helps to heal and improve the conditions of the body. The buoyancy of the water creates a low-impact environment, ideal for creating a balance between a soothing and strengthening therapy program. Many people who experience arthritis, back pain, fibromyalgia, and injured muscles use an endless swim spa to alleviate the pain and tension. Engaging in hydrotherapy can speed muscle recovery, reduce inflammation of the joints, and boost overall well-being.

Aquatic Exercise
Exercising in water is a safe environment to increase strength, endurance, and balance. The buoyancy of the water relieves the tension you might normally experience on your muscles and joints during traditional exercise. The water also provides a gentle level of resistance so you can build strength and improve your overall wellness. People with little or no exercise experience will appreciate the ease of maintaining a water workout regimen, while seasoned athletes reap the benefits of cross-training and muscle recovery.

Leisure And Bonding
Like any pool, an Endless Pool is an ideal place for family and friends to gather and unwind. These compact pools provide a cozy environment for relaxation, but still have enough space for the entire party. They offer families the perfect balance between occasional socializing and a daily fitness routine.

Hydropool VS Endless Swim Spas; Which One Is Better?

Structure
For our money, the traditional acrylic shell is far superior to the vinyl liner of the Original endless swim spa. Not only are acrylic shells easier to clean and maintain, they also are much more durable. While the vinyl liner of an Endless Pool will have to be changed every 5–10 years, the acrylic shell of a Hydropool swim spa will last forever.

Swim Currents
Hydropool and endless swim spa also differ in how they generate their swim currents. Hydropool swim spas are powered by two powerful swim jets, which send water through their industry exclusive V-Twin jets. These jets spread the current evenly over a wide area while also breaking up turbulence in the water using a series of swim fins that stop the water rotating. This creates a smooth, turbulence-free swim current that is easy to swim against. Rather than using swim jets, the swim currents in endless swim spas are both powered by a turbine. This turbine forces water through a swim grate that breaks up the swirling motion created by the turbine and creates a smooth swimming current.

Power
No matter how smooth the current is, if it isn't powerful enough, it will still be frustrating to swim in. Hydropool swim spas (Swimming pools) create a current that is capable of reaching speeds of up to 10km/h. Endless swim spas, on the other hand, are only capable of creating a current of around 6.5 km/h. For beginner swimmers this isn't an issue, however intermediate to advanced swimmers will likely find this lack of power frustrating.

Controllability
One of the most important components of a swim current system is the controllability of the swim current's speed. High-powered swim currents are great, but if you can't turn down that power most swimmers won't be able to keep up. Both Hydropool and endless swim spas provide controls near the swim current that allow you to easily increase and decrease the speed of the swim current, allowing for swimmers of all abilities to find a comfortable swimming speed.

Filtration Systems
Like most swim spa manufacturers, endless swim spas uses a hot tub style filtration system. While this system does work well in hot tubs, swim spas are simply too large for this style of system to be effective. Hydropool, on the other hand, filter their water using their industry exclusive Self-Cleaning filtration system. This system uses the same pressure side filtration that is common in in-ground pools and is so efficient that it can clean all of the water in the swim spa in less than 45 minutes! This means cleaner, clearer water with almost no maintenance.

A Useful Checklist for Your Future Endless Swim Spa Location
Swim Spa Pool
Outdoor Swimming Spa
Large Swim Spa
Swim Spa Pool

Site Requirements:
A solid, level floor or concrete pad, capable of supporting up to 250-lbs./sq.ft.; most ground level spaces and on-grade concrete floors can support this weight.
2' wider and 3' longer than the pool's interior dimensions to allow for access to the pool and its equipment.
The pool can be placed in a corner.

Equipment Access:
The Water Quality System is typically installed at the front of the pool.
The Hydraulic Power Unit can be located next to the pool or up to 75' away.

Installation Configurations:
The pool can be installed above-ground, partially in-ground, or completely in-ground.
Above-ground pools eliminate the need to excavate.
A raised platform built around the pool gives an in-ground appearance without excavation costs.
Partially in-ground pools are the most easily accessible for people with mobility limitations.
Indoors, breaking through the existing floor may be best for a partially/fully in-ground installation, particularly if you want a deeper pool.

Climate:
Indoors or out in warm locations.
In colder climates, most are installed indoors for year-round exercise.
Some owners have super-insulated their pools to swim outdoors year-round, even in snow!

Pool Size:
Pool Series sizes range from 6'x6' to 16'x16', depending on the model, and are customizable in 1' increments.
Spa Series offers 4 sizes; the molded acrylic shells cannot be resized.
Speak with a Design Representative for options and details.

Pool Depth:
39" standard, appropriate for swimming.
Variable from 41"-51", suitable for water aerobics or to use our underwater treadmill.

Existing Space vs. New Space:
All Pool Series components fit through a standard doorway for easy installation in existing spaces.
Our Spa Series requires an 8' wide opening, so they're more suitable for outdoors, garages, and new construction.

Indoor Pool Considerations:
Humidity can be mostly controlled with a properly used cover. If the pool is uncovered less than one hour a day, a standard household dehumidifier or a window vent fan should be sufficient.
Our optional covers also reduce heat loss and have some form of locking mechanism.
Locating an endless swim spa above the ground floor requires the review of a professional engineer to ensure that the upper-floor room has the structural integrity to support the weight.
Endless swim spas highly recommends that both the pool and water quality system be located near a floor drain or have a sump pump.
The area surrounding the pool should be protected, with appropriate floor and wall covering materials.

Outdoor Pool Considerations:
We strongly recommend a Rigid cover to secure against heat loss, debris, and unwanted access.
Cabinet insulation can extend your open-pool season.
All pools come standard with an electric water heater.
A gas heater (optional) heats the pool water much faster than electric and is generally cheaper to operate.
If you decide to excavate, you should first determine the height of the site's water table.

How to Maintain Endless Swim Spa

After Each Use
Tedious though it may sound, you will need to check the chlorine level in your endless swim spa. Chlorine levels are adjusted by adding regular, unscented chlorine bleach directly to your pool's water. Take care that you don't add your chemicals to any of the internal pool mechanisms, and you can damage them, and some of the damage may not be covered by the endless swim spa's warranty. After making sure that the chlorine level in your pool is safe, that is all you will have to do daily.

Twice Per Week
Keep an eye on the water level in your swim spas. When your pool is installed, your installer will be able to show you how much water, at minimum, and at maximum, you should have in your endless swim spa. Too much can cause water to be wasted with excessive splashing on the sides, but too little can result in an injury to you, or to someone that you love. If you don't remember exactly how much water is needed for your pool, check the instruction manual that came with your pool.

Once Per Week
Check both the total alkalinity and the total chlorine levels in your endless swim spa. Again, adjusting the chlorine level in your endless swim spa involves adding bleach, but changing the alkalinity is done with either sodium bisulfate to lower the alkalinity, making it more acidic to kill more germs, or sodium carbonate to raise the alkalinity, making it less acidic and easier on the skin, hair, and eyes.

Every Other Week
Test your endless swim spa water for calcium hardness. Just like the water coming from the tap in your kitchen, or from your shower head, if your water is hard, it can cause a build-up of calcium and limescale in your pool, which may affect the performance of your investment. Simply add more clean water if the test for calcium results tells you that your water is too hard, or dissolve calcium in a bucket of water to pour into the endless swim spa. Just as with the bleach, make absolutely sure that you do not pour the dissolved calcium anywhere into the pool's internal mechanisms.

Every Other Month
You will most likely only need to clean your endless swim spa filter every two months, but if your family is very active, or you are in love with your endless swim spa and use it on most days, you may need to clean it once per month. A pool filter is important for keeping dirt and other sediments out of your endless swim spa water and doing part of the work of keeping your endless swim spa clean. After a few cleanings, it will be time to replace your filter. Be mindful of what the individual instructions on your pool filters instruct you to do.
